Keeping Up

For the last several weeks I've been managing to knit one block of the Mitered Square Afghan each week. That is, until last week.

Last week I didn't knit one single block. I didn't even cast on for one. I feel my mitered square mojo slowly slipping away. With my sample knitting schedule full pretty much through the end of August, I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep on track as I had hoped. To make matters worse, I've realized that having an afghan that is only three squares wide might still be too narrow for what I'd consider a throw or lap blanket. I've started toying with the idea of making it 4x4 squares. Meaning: I'm not as close to being done as it seems. I was initally planning on doing four rows of three squares (and none of the funny all garter spaces) but now am thinking two rows of four square, and two rows of three squares plus the funny garter spaces.

To top it off, summer school has been a huge drain on me and I wonder why I thought it was ever a good idea.

  1. This is very lovely colors. You could always knit a wide border with a pretty edging to make the 3 square width wider.

  2. Oh, sorry to hear that! But I love how your squares look, the "dull" grey and the fresh colours look so good together! It'll be worth the effort :)

  3. Your squares so far are beautiful! Don't be too hard on yourself about the pace. You'll still finish the blanket faster than I would. ;)

  5. it's definitely TOO SOON to give up! agree with jellidonut that your mojo will return. (and if you don't want to wait, the smaller size will certainly be fine and the colors are so pretty who cares??!)

  9. Is it a race? Are you going to be punished if it takes you longer than you planned?

That WOULD suck all of the joy out of this beautiful project...

  10. I am with you. I lost my mojo a little while back. After looking the squares I too found out that 3 squares were indeed not wide enough. My stopping point came after 6 squares. Hopefully our mojo comes back. :)
