Blog Hub Swap Day 7

It's a sad truth but I've come to the last day of my swap gifts. I keep forgetting to mention that part of this swap was to include a pattern. Well, Vanessa gifted me the Hooray Cardigan on Ravelry. I was instructed not to "open" (or in this case download) it until I received my package and believe it or not, I did wait. I'm so excited about this sweater and have already purchased the yarn!

My final package to open was a bottle of meat marinade that Vanessa says is often used in Cuban cooking. I've never tried it but have already set aside some chicken to try it out on this week.

Thank you Vanessa!

Blog Hub Swap Day 6

Here's the package that I've been dying to see! I'll admit, the silvery paper that Vanessa wrapped it in had split open a bit in transit so I'd been peeking at the spring green colors all week!

This skein is from the Unique Sheep and is 100% wool. I can't wait to find a pattern for it although I already have some ideas. The website and the skein have two different yardage listings, with the larger number being listed on the skein (so I'm hoping it's right). I'm thinking maybe some mittens are in order. Even though with the way the weather has been, they'll most likely have to be for next year. Thank you Vanessa! I can't wait to wind this up!

Blog Hub Swap Day 5

Today's gift was a packet of roving, probably for needle felting, which I've never tried. The colors are pretty though so we'll see what happens! Thanks Vanessa!

Blog Hub Swap Day 4

Today I opened a package containing the book A Knitter's Home Companion. I have only skimmed through this book but what I'm loving most about it is its mish mash of knitting content. There are stories, patterns, and even recipes. One of the things that I love so much about knitting and crochet is the tradition it carries. My mother did it, my grandmother as well, and I wonder if someday my own children will. This is a book that celebrates that tradition.

Blog Hub Swap Day 3

Today I opened a fun surprise! A pattern book for both knit and crochet wraps and shawls! I've never made a wrap so I'll be interested to see what this book has to offer. Thanks Vanessa! I'm looking forward to tomorrow as the presents are getting bigger!

Blog Hub Swap Day 2

For day two of the swap, I am still working my way through the tiny presents. Vanessa gifted me several bags of a Vanilla Rooibos tea. I've never heard of this blend before, but being a tea lover, I did a bit of research. Starbucks suggests having it with a buttery scone in the afternoon but since I have none on hand, Girl Scout cookies will have to do. I'm brewing some up now!

The next tiny gift was the handmade item (a requirement of the swap). It is cinnamon scented soap made by a company called Mimi's Soap. It smells so wonderful I'm not sure if I'll be able to use it!

Blog Hub Swap Day 1

I'm a member of The Blog Hub group and Ravelry and we recently had a swap! The idea was to give seven little gifties to our recipient so they have something to blog about each day for a week. Well my package has arrived! It's from NessaMcTastic (her Rav name. I doubt it's her real name) who blogs at Mixed Martial Arts and Crafts. Technically the package arrived Tuesday but I had a late school commitment (Math Game Night) so didn't get home until nine. I was really tired and feeling under the weather so I sent her a thank you and promised to blog the next day (yesterday). Well that under the weather turned into full blown sinus issues and I spent yesterday wrapped up sipping chicken soup and tea. So I'm here now, not really feeling better but wanting to make sure I get this post up. To make matters worse, I took all my pictures yesterday on my camera to which now of course I can't find the cord. sigh. Anything else?

The package she sent me contained nine little silvery parcels! She included a note that said open from smallest to largest and since there are so many pieces, I figured I could open two on the first and second day.

Thank goodness for a camera on your cell phone.

The two smallest gifts contained this little rubber ducky and three darling sheep buttons. Unfortunately two did not survive the trip so it's all been left up to this lone button.  I'm dying to open the rest of my gifts, I've never really been good at waiting. I have to admit, one had a tear in it and I have a good idea of what the fibery goodness will be. But I've refrained from ripping the rest open!
