Brother's Sweater

I've kind of been debating about whether or not to post pictures of my completed Brother's Sweater on the blog. If you're thinking that you know what that means then you're right, I'm done! I'm so excited that of course part of me wants to shout it from the (proverbial) tree tops. However, my brother does tend to read the blog and while he does know that I've been making this, I don't want to completely ruin the surprise. So, I've decided to share some sneak peeks and then do a complete write up of the project after Christmas.

I now present you with the wonder of the saddle shoulder construction:

It took me a minute while reading the directions to really understand how this all would ultimately fit together. I read a bunch of helpful posts on Ravelry and just sort of went with it. I remember as an undergraduate student I had shared with a professor my apprehension about all the work it would take to complete a graduate program. The advice she gave me was to "trust the process". So while this probably isn't what she meant, I figured if all those other knitters could do it then I would just take it one step at a time and it would all eventually come together. And it did!

I finished all the knitting, seaming, threading, washing and blocking last night and found the perfect buttons at Joann's today. They're all sewed on now and this gift will be able to make it to its recipient on time.
