Some Progress

Really, I have been making some progress on my Christmas knitting. I'm sure I'm not the only one wallowing waist deep in gift knitting who just realized Christmas is less than three weeks away, right? Right?! Apparently looking at calendars doesn't work for me because I always know that date. But, Monday afternoon I sat at my desk and actually counted the days and realized my time was running dreadfully short. So, I've made a list for myself of things to work on and in what order they need to be finished and so far I've been able to stick with it. My plan is to just keep plugging away.

So, like I said, some progress. I'm almost done with the yoke on my Brother's Sweater. There's  a couple more yoke decreases to do before the saddle shoulder shaping and I'm hoping to crank that out tonight. Then just button bands and blocking. I realized this morning that despite have 900+ yards of this yarn I may actually run out. I'll be stopping at the craft store on the way home to pick up another skein. Tomorrow will be button buying day.

In other, unrelated news, we've finally had our first good snow (flurries and dustings don't count). I'm pretty sure in the last couple days we've seen about 6-8 inches or so. Timber and Hazel are true snow dogs and have no problem attempting to dash around in it. Timber says it makes him feel like he's back in Minnesota where he spent the first 9 weeks of his life.

  1. That sweater is almost done!!!! Hope they have the yarn and buttons you need :) I once knit my parents a blanket and started it 3 weeks before Christmas - just looking at the mound of yarn needing winding (by hand) was daunting. I don't recall if I've done anything so foolish errr I mean ambitious since.

Is that Timber? Great picture :)

  6. My two love snow too, but having hair it royally sucks to try to get the enormous snowballs they get stuck to their hair afterward! It's worth seeing them love it so much, though. ;)

Good luck with all your Christmas knitting! So impressed that you're making a sweater for someone! I always go for small gifts... sweaters are so time consuming!

  7. I've never knitted for Christmas; I was always afraid I wouldn't get done in time and stress out. This year I wish I knitted for Christmas, so I think I'm going to start knitting for next year now. That will give me a whole year. I just need to be strong, and not be tempted to give it away early.
