Granny-ghan

I finally finished this blanket for my mom yesterday. She bought me all this yarn specifically for me to make her a blanket. She said that I've made one for everyone but her. Which, come to think of it, is partially true considering I've made an afghan for me, Adam, my in-laws, and my sister- and brother-in-law. So she bought this yarn on her last visit to Ohio with instructions for the completed blanket to be in her hands by the next time I saw her. I thought I would do a simple ripple pattern but ended up hating it. I decided somewhere around October I would just do granny squares but then let it sort of sit by the wayside. Needless to say, I went to California to visit for Christmas empty handed. Before I left, I had to make a blood oath that I would have the blanket to her before winter was over (and she meant California winter not Ohio winter). So anyway, I put the pedal to the metal and finally whipped out this blanket. It's about 5 feet in length, the perfect size for a lapghan! When I was doing the squares, I wasn't loving them but now that everything is joined and the border is done, I'm pleased with how it turned out. Now just to get it in the mail...
