Ravelympics begins tomorrow at 6pm Pacific time (9pm Eastern). This will be my first year participating! The premise of the Ravelympics is to challenge yourself by starting and finishing a project during the 2010 Winter Olympics which lasts from February 12 to February 28. I've joined Team Never Not Knitting and am hoping to complete the
Big Montana Tunic during the event. I bought the yarn for this (5 skeins of Tahki Yarns Montana) from
Webs last year when this color was being discontinued and got it for quite the steal. I spent Tuesday night snowed in and balling all the yarn in preparation. I should probably do a gauge swatch too, now that I think about it.
I've also balled some yarn to do the
Slouched Tuva Hat in the event that I actually finish the tunic and have time to compete in a second event (it's the little red ball). I also have some other projects lined up but I don't really knit too terribly fast and don't want to get ahead of myself. I plan to knit like the wind for those 16 days (even though I still have my own work to worry about and my taxes still need to be done) and see how far I can get.
Swatched!
That's a cool looking project! I need to ball up some of my yarn too! I can't believe it starts tonight. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWow! You are quite ambitious! I like that tunic... is it for you? It will look great on you!
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of ambitious but I'm hoping the bulky yarn and large needles will make it a quick knit. It is for me so I figure the worst thing that could happen is that I'll have another frogging project for the next Ravelympics.
