On Friday, I started knitting a pattern called Lace Anklets. I am making these for my secret swap partner for the Color Swap group on Ravelry. The premise is to swap a package (yarn, goodies, and a handmade item) based on some color ideas each person provides. My partner said she likes "berry colors". I thought the Malabrigo Yarn Sock I purchased a few weeks ago from My Sister's Yarn Shop was a wonderful blueberry color and would be perfect for her handmade item. Once completed, this will be my first pair of knitted socks. I have knit a single sock before, but I never made it to the second. I had to cast on for these three times (I did the cuff on two circular needles) but I finally feel like I've got the hang of it.

Weekend Sock Knitting
This weekend I had vowed to abstain from knitting. I have a ton of school work that needs to be done for my graduate courses, not including lesson plans and regular work stuff. Of course, to stay away from knitting is very difficult. I made myself goals ("Once this paper is done, then I can knit for half an hour") and then ended up knitting too much.

Oh those look like a fun pair of socks to knit. How do you like knitting with the Malabrigo? I've been eyeing a skein of that for a loooong time.
ReplyDeleteYour sock looks fantastic! Once you get past that first sock, making a pair is no trouble at all - I started the same way.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky swap partner you have!
Those are turning out very pretty! Your secret swap partner will love them, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteThe yarn is so pretty and I really like the pattern! I love to do swap sock knitting . . . actually I might be a part of this group, but didn't participate this round.
