Aran Necklace Camisole: Take Two

Oh, does this pattern seem familiar to you?  Perhaps you recall me knitting it last year?  That's right. Another pattern that I've now knit twice. If you're wondering what happened to the original version, well, nothing. It's crept around my closet for the past year without ever being worn once. Yes, it was originally a bit too short but I did get extra yarn to add some length. But the more I thought about wearing it, the less pleased with it I was. The yarn I used was a worsted weight cotton/linen blend and was just way too heavy for a summer garment. So, a couple months back I decided to buy the called for yarn from a Raveler destash and give it a second go.

The finished garment is much lighter weight than my original and perfect for summer. With all the stockinette abounding in this project, it also worked up pretty quickly.

I made modifications similar to the first such as joining the front and back at about 5.5" instead of 7". From the join, I then knit for 12" instead of 10.5". I think this second version is a much better length on me than the first, but I wouldn't have minded an extra inch. However, just knitting this length I already used up every last bit of yarn. I ended up only having enough left after the 12" to do the purl row, then two rows before binding off.

The Berroco yarn (NaturLin) was not as rough as I had anticipated, although there was a lot of vegetable matter. But I guess it doesn't matter because it has been discontinued. If you're going to knit this (I'm definitely not, second time was the charm) definitely use a sport or dk weight yarn. I don't know what I was thinking last time. I guess that doesn't matter now either since the original is now headed to the frog pond.

Pattern: Aran Necklace Camisole by Caroline Bautista

Needles: #4 for cables, #7 for stockinette
