Let me just start by saying, secret knitting (such as sample knitting) can cause a lapse in blogging. I'm still chugging away on my most recent sample knit but can't share it with you (yet). Which is why I've resorted to showing you pretty pictures of yarn that has managed to make its way into my house recently. I generally don't do "yarn shots", I prefer to share projects. But when life gives you yarn, you smile and say thank you.
First up is a gorgeous skein of Becoming Art Agave heavy fingering (80/10/10 superwash wool/cashmere/nylon) in Looking In. This is destined to become a beautiful pair of socks for me! I think I deserve to be a little selfish now and then.
Also recently moved into the neighborhood is this to-die-for skein of Dream in Color Everlasting. It's a hand dyed, DK weight, superwash wool. I'm not kidding you when I say I opened up the package and actually gasped. It is SO vibrant in real life, the actual color is hard to capture. What will it become? Something delectable, no doubt.
A friendly and reliable couple has come along as well. These two skeins of Knit Picks Stroll Heathers sock yarn will become a pair of socks for my brother's birthday next month. He chose the color and said red socks will be "kind of fun" and will complete his hand made wardrobe (of which all he has is the sweater I made). He did tell me, "I like hand made things" and I asked, "like what? Dinner?" So we'll see if the socks get any actual wear. In his defense though, my mother has informed me that he wears his sweater to work (out of the house!!). Always welcome news to any gift knitter.
I also had a bit more enhancement last month, but we'll leave it at this. I'll save January's stash for when I'm in desperate need of another blog post.
Have you had any great stash enhancers lately?
Those yarn colors certainly looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm always enhancing the stash and will probably do it again tomorrow...
ReplyDeletepretty! love it all - and especially the red for boy socks! you could also share puppy photos, and/or photos of snow...those have been very popular this winter! (and I try not to enhance my stash - if I buy yarn, it's to cast on right away :-)
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, the green of that Becoming Art is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful new stash enhancements! I especially love the green.
ReplyDeleteOh... I added to my yarn stash a bit last month also. I love yarn shots. It is so much fun to see what different people like and what they end up doing with their yarn. Happy Valentine's Day,
ReplyDeleteMeredith
An Enhanced Stash is a Happy Stash, and a Happy Stash means a Happy Knitter!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous yarn. I'm sure your brother will love the socks. I know I would!
ReplyDeleteI haven't enhanced my own stash in a while, so looking at yours is good for my soul!
ReplyDeleteI haven't purchased any new yarn in a while. I always look at yarn, though. I make trips to my LYS just to stroke yarn.
ReplyDeleteThe purple skein is just too gorgeous, I'm off to Google Everlasting - hadn't heard of it!
ReplyDeleteI love yarn pics, it's definitely a good way to think about new knitting when you're snowed under with unselfish knitting or a looong project. I HAVE to try some Becoming Art yarn, I keep seeing it everywhere.
ReplyDeleteOoh beautiful yarns! Love the first one in particular.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your new editions to your stash; I love checking out other knitters' yarn. That Becoming Art Agave in Looking In is beautiful. I've never heard of Becoming Art yarns before. I think I need to go yarn shopping now...
ReplyDeleteI can't keep my eyes on those colorful and lovely yarns!
